The Galentine-Valentine + a review on the Royal hibiscus hotel(the movie) + my Valentine resolutions
The term galentine was used frequently by top blogger, and so far, I think it means some couple of girls hanging out together on Valentine’s day, “the sisters act thing”. Just so you know, I’ve never gone out on Valentine’s day, in fact, going out at all is like hard work, I always say to myself “the sun is too hot, the place is too far, I cannot trek, let me just sleep ...blah blah blah”.
So this year, on my way to or fro work when the month was still in bloom, I always came across this small gift shop with beautiful frames, roses, and whatever follows all jazzed-up with a little bit of Valentine drama, reminding me of all the Valentine I never got gifts-I mean ALL!. I said to myself, sister, na wa o! It’s going to happen again this year, and my boring-cozy lifestyle followed suit utill it was few days to. I had an accomplice, the beautiful opposite of me but we are lazy together *lol*, we decided to see a movie together and maybe go some place else-the only place our purse could afford.
A review on The Royal Hibiscus Hotel(the movie)
First of, I keep calling it “ purple hibiscus “ in reality, which is very funny. We actually planned to see Fifty shades freed but was cornered and I'm happy, it was worth the money, here’s why...I love movies that reflects it’s origin, I mean if it’s Nollywood, we should see a little highlights of some daily activities characterized with Nigerians(not the Oracle kind) in it and Ebonylife gave me that in the scenes where they withdrew crisp naira notes form the automated teller machine (ATM) at Fidelity Bank, spoke Yoruba language almost often, dinner at the top of Eko hotels and suites. When the chef there carried her natural 4c hair, it was just epic. The storyline didn’t have a lot of suspense, but it was really romantic, and when they decided to use songs by love stuck artists like Nonso Amadin, simisola et Johnny Drille as theme songs, no jokes, I got really mushy.
They awoke romance in the dinner scene, in fact they brought an insightful contrast between ‘love' and ‘like' the movie. Trust me, this movie cannot be overrated. If you are still contemplating whether or not to see it, then stress not thyself, for I have tested and seen, hence, it’s worth that ticket money. I even downloaded some of the theme songs so I could recreate the memory in my head.
My Valentine resolutions
First of, in all you've read, you will notice I didn’t mention a BAE, BOO and all of that, not because there isn’t, or I’m lonely. Learn to love yourself because in reality, you won’t get as much love from anyone compared to that which you could give yourself. Give yourself treats, take YOU on trips, surprise yourself(if it’s possible), enjoy being single (if you are), still do if you aren’t when there’s the slightest opportunity irrespective of the circumstance. Life is tooo short my dear.
P.s. I did all of that(my treat) on a three thousand naira (3k) budget. Damn I’m prudent!.
My resolution ?.. I'll go out on more trips for treats. LOL.
How did you spend your Valentine? What are your resolutions?
