Walking in purpose II (For the ninety-nine, or The One?)

Well, which is more important? When I first heard this scripture parable... I thought to myself "so what will happen to the ninety-nine, what if they all wander away? Could it be that the shepherd loved that one more?" Trust me to already attach a sense of self to the lost sheep, I want to be the one He loves enough to leave the ninety-nine for! This isn't right though, just stick with me here.

I started the "walking in purpose" series letting you know that, everything that has happened, and still is happening to you right now is all part of the big plan, read it here.

This week, I had an experience and it would be fair to share, but I'd give you a backstory first.

Back in 2018, I started my blog officially. Opened an Instagram account and was very deliberate about it. I grew to a thousand genuine followers in a couple of months and that was so cool. After some good time, I began to chase my ninety-nine. How?

For every blog post I put up, and every other social media post, I worried about the likes and engagements I was getting, so much that I became really stressed out comparing others to myself and this left me dissatisfied. After a pretty long struggle, I logged off for a while. This was good for my mental health so I concluded it was the best solution. After some time, I deleted my Instagram account and created another, twice. If I didn't care so much about my memories, I'd have shoved my Facebook account down the toilet and give it a good flush.

This year, I resumed blogging from where I had left off. Being more intentional. I tried posting carelessly on my social media platforms because, we've got to loud the message right? Lol. However, I didn't do this with enthusiasm being that I already knew it would attract zero to no significant engagement anyway, and in my defence, I didn't want to relive my previous experience.

Now, as I was brainstorming on a post for this week... it hit me, WHO ARE YOU CHASING HENRIETTA?
still following this train of thought, it became really clear. Let's shine some light on the parable first.

It was simply to teach us a "value system"
Of course Jesus died for EVERYONE, but the heaven rejoices when one is saved. He loves the hundred, but he places personal value on each of them, every one percent is as valuable as the whole hundred.
That ONE can be anyone! If you read the bible, you would notice that most times it was written in a second person singular (YOU), so the message can be direct. It will always give life to that One!

Now how does this relate?

In your entire life of purpose, chase the one.

Do it for the one percent. Jesus' purpose was to reconcile YOU to God(himself), in other words, you've in turn been called for your one too.
Blogging has really helped me as a means to share God's inspired thought, I'd tell you a secret, I go back to my published post just to be encouraged. That is to say that it is medicine for me too.🙃

During the course of this week, It occurred to me to reach out to a new subscriber on Facebook, I did, and then He replied *for privacy reasons, I can't share this particular response, but I'd share a similar one that was valuable*. While I read through, I heard in my heart "do it for the one percent, be encouraged to continue to push for this ONE".
I have had a fair share of all the turbulence that comes with chasing my five thousand, but God is saying to us; chase the One.

Henrietta, i tell you again, you write pretty well. This is another great piece of writing.

Again, it's ok if things aren't turning out as expected, let me quickly remind you that Elijah's one percent was Elisha, Moses' one percent was Joshua, Jesus' one percent is YOU.
Be encouraged to give it your best shot for that one.
So, if you have found your calling, it'll save you a whole lot of energy knowing that your one percent is as valuable as the hundred.

You make me read through your lines like a toddler, coming several years behind you. So inspirational! To realize that strength within from which we draw positive influence on others is indeed in line with our God-given purpose. How greatly pleased is He as we dwell and not drift away. Thanks for inspiring me with this perfectly knit piece. I pray for His continuous love to keep all of us focused within the confines of His purpose for us - that's indeed all that matters!
